Golf Tip of the Month - June 2010!
Hitting the tee shot far is great but position is more important. There are three keys to a good tee shot. One proper setup with the weight back to the right side. Two turning into the right side. Loading the right right side. Three staying back so your arms can swing down the line. Hit solid shots with proper release and you'll get more power. Trying to over power the ball will not produce consistent accurate shots. If the goal is to talk about that one great drive, forgetting that you were in someones swimming pool, or nailing houses most of the time, then fine go for it. But the idea is to hit fairways, and make the second shot as easy as possible. Control the swing controlthe ball.
Summary:
Hitting a good drive is fun, and it feels real good to cream it down the middle. Just remember that good technique trumps over powering the ball.
