Expectations:
We are all different, with varying degrees of strength and athletic ability. Some peope pick things up faster than others. It is very important that you do not compare yourself with anyone else. I have worked the people trying to get their PGA card. I have worked with kids playing college golf andI have worked with people that have never touched a club in their life. Be yourself and go at your own pace. Our mind has a lot to do with how we improve. |

What to Expect from your Golf Lessons:
You see kids walking around with tee shirts saying "no fear". When we can relax and make a fluid swing without fear of messing up our chances greatly improve. That's the point we must get to. But in order to get a relaxed fluid swing there is a process that we all must go through. When we learn anything new, golf, martial arts, playing the piano, typing, driving a stick shift car, you name it, we have to think. Anything new will be awkward at first. We must think our way through it and repeat it time after time on a conscious level until it becomes a subconscious skill. The proper fundamental movement in the golf swing is a totally different movement than we think it is. We simply cannot think and have this relaxed fluid swing. So in the process of taking lessons there is a good chance of going backwards before the proper fundamentals start to work. This is a key reason so few people improve. They simply do not stick with it long enough to give it a chance to become a natural fluid motion. This can be frustrating at times, but anyone who wants to improve can, and the fact is, it is less work learning and practicing the right things than it is to continue to swing improperly and never improve. I make a point to all of my students; how you hit the ball when you're in the process of learning something new or change means zero. At this point we are thinking too much to hit the ball good. As they repeat the movement the squence starts to fall into place, and the swing starts to become more natural and relaxed. Now we become more consistent, more accurate, and when relax we can not help but get more distance.
When we set up to the ball and we're confident of our swing we will automatically relax. If we trust our swing it will fall into place and good things happen. Tourning pros have trouble controlling distance. They hit it too far at times. Talk about a relaxed fluid motion. Show me a professional in any sport that is affraid of making a mistake and I'll show you a very short career. If you want to get better you can. Let me train you how to practice, and stay with it, stay positive. It's just that simple.
